Year 4 Celebrate the Feast Day of St Lucy

14th December 2020Ms T Picken

St Lucy is Year 4’s class saint. Today, they celebrated her Feast Day with a lovely class Liturgy.

Saint Lucy

Whose beautiful name signifies ‘LIGHT’

by the light of faith which God bestowed upon you

increase and preserve His light in my soul

so that I may avoid evil,

Be zealous in the performance of good works

and abhor nothing so much as the blindness and

the darkness of evil and sin.

Obtain for me, by your intercession with God

Perfect vision for my bodily eyes

and the grace to use them for God’s greater honour and glory

and the salvation of souls.

St. Lucy, virgin and martyr

hear my prayers and obtain my petitions.

Amen.

Naughty Teacher!

14th December 2020Stacy McHale

Miss Morgan was in trouble in Year 4. Her class were writing on the tables in the lesson with whiteboard pens!! Tut Tut!

Luckily, this has really helped Y4 to improve their understanding of rounding numbers, and after lots of additional support, they have made great progress in rounding. (The pen also wiped off nicely with some anti bacterial spray! )

Wow everyone! We achieved 100% attendance on the 10th & 11th December, this is incredible!

Children were treated to an early Christmas present to celebrate our amazing attendance.

This is the first time this year for 100% but it won’t be the last. Keep coming to school on time every day unless you are unwell. We are so proud of St Teresa’s.

Mass: The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary

8th December 2020Ms T Picken

Mass: The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Today, pupils virtually joined Mgr. Mark Crisp at St Peter and St Paul’s Catholic Church for a lovely Mass celebrating The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Pupils participated in Mass reverently and respectfully.

Today’s Gospel:

‘I am the handmaid of the Lord’   Luke 1:26-38

The angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the House of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. He went in and said to her, ‘Rejoice, so highly favoured! The Lord is with you.’ She was deeply disturbed by these words and asked herself what this greeting could mean, but the angel said to her, ‘Mary, do not be afraid; you have won God’s favour. Listen! You are to conceive and bear a son, and you must name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David; he will rule over the House of Jacob for ever and his reign will have no end.’ Mary said to the angel, ‘But how can this come about, since I am a virgin?’ ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you’ the angel answered ‘and the power of the Most High will cover you with its shadow. And so the child will be holy and will be called Son of God. Know this too: your kinswoman Elizabeth has, in her old age, herself conceived a son, and she whom people called barren is now in her sixth month, for nothing is impossible to God.’ ‘I am the handmaid of the Lord,’ said Mary ‘let what you have said be done to me.’ And the angel left her.

Advent Preparation with OneLife Music

7th December 2020Ms T Picken

“We open our hearts to God’s love and we prepare to welcome Jesus into our lives.”

It can be so easy to let Advent fly by without taking much time to stop and reflect on the gradual coming of the Messiah or the enormity of our Savior’s humble entrance into our world. To prepare our children’s hearts for the coming of the baby Jesus, pupils joined Dan and Emily from OneLife Music for an amazing Music Advent Preparation experience. Each class enjoyed the event which was live streamed from St Christopher’s Catholic Church.

Our Head Boy and Head Girl are chosen by members of the school staff from our Year 6 pupils, for their outstanding qualities and as excellent role models for St Teresa’s. They will hold this responsible role for the school year. During their time of office they will be called upon to be ambassadors for the school and will meet and greet important visitors to the school, as well as being involved in a wide range of other important and enjoyable duties.

We hope that the privilege of being chosen for these roles will help to drive their ambitions and make them leaders of the future!

St Teresa’s Museum

This week, we displayed the amazing projects our pupils undertook this term.

Year 6 linked their project to their class text ‘Shackleton’s Journey’. Pupils recreated the ship Shackleton used in his landmark expedition of crossing the Antarctic from one pole to the other.

Year 5 linked their project to their geography unit ‘Mexico’. Pupils created posters, leaflets, Sombreros and even Mexican guitars!

Year 4 linked their project to their class text ‘Belonging’. Pupils created images of what they might see through their window.

Year 3 linked their project to their history topic ‘The Stone Age’. Pupils created Stone Age buildings and camp fires.

Year 2 created amazing Family Trees, representing family relationships over generations.

Reception class created ‘Celebration’ scenes, showing different types of celebrations.

Each class took it in turns to visit the museum and talk about pupil’s fantastic work.

Well done everyone for your outstanding efforts!!
