Reception and Year 4 had a visit from the local Fire Service today. They’ve learnt invaluable lessons about the importance of having fire alarms, escape routes if a fire was to occur and how to report a fire and much more. The children even got the chance to take a closer look at a fire engine, although it got a little noisy!
The children of St Teresa’s have been discussing, researching and learning more about Black History over the last two weeks. They were asked to complete projects at home based on important people who have made an impact on history. Some children from Year 5 and 6 presented their projects to other classes, sharing what they have learnt about these amazing figures.
St Teresa’s is proud to have been awarded The Music Mark for 2023. The award shows our commitment to inclusive music teaching in 2022-23 and will also help us plan even more amazing music improvements for the next three terms. Watch this space! 🎵 🎹

Y2 parents and pupils joined together on Tuesday this week for a wonderful Liturgy. The themes of gratitude and care for our common home will really help us to think and act like their class saint St Francis.
Parents worked alongside pupils in Reception and Year 1 in our parent Phonics Session. They learnt how the Read Write Inc Phonics programme is structured and how to support their child at home. The presentation slides are available here for anyone who was unable to attend. Links to our parent page reading resources, READ WRITE INC pronunciation guide and free books to use on children’s tablets can all be found at this link.
Thank you so much to all the parents that attended the workshop and well done children for participating in all the activities. It is a beautiful gift to be able to see a young child learn to read and become lost in the world of stories. Please speak to us in school if you require any further help or information.
We celebrated National Poetry Day with a host of activities. Parents joined us in our reading and writing poetry workshops, where we produced amazing poems on this year’s theme ‘Refuge’. It was great to see pupils working alongside their parents and other children in different year groups.
Pupils in Year 2 & 3 visited The Grand Theatre to meet an author – Benji Davies. They heard all about the process of writing and listened to him read his new books! Pupils were surprised with their own copy of his latest book!!
In the afternoon, pupils learnt a poem and performed it to other classes. They focused on their speech and language skills as well as their performance skills.

Students learnt about democracy and the importance of having a vote.
They voted for their school council representatives by writing their two preferences down on their ballot paper. The votes were then placed in the ballot box ready for staff to count!
Students were also able to vote for their House Captians using the list of Year 6 canidates. The Head Boy and Head Girl then counted the votes.
Stay tuned for the election results!!!
